bio

Nour Hachem-Fawaz wants to change global perspectives on women’s contribution to society. Inspired by her mother’s perseverance to excel in a male-dominated field, Nour dug deep into the ‘why’ behind the lack of women in skilled trades. She realized that the barriers keeping women out of these rewarding careers were common to other male-dominated paths and created a non-profit to encourage and empower young women to explore careers they may never have considered.

Industry Panel

Hosted by award-winning automotive journalist Petrina Gentile will give insights into the amazing variety of career opportunities and highlight the career paths of women from the OEM, Vendor, and Dealer communities.

Petrina Gentile: MC & Panel Host

Petrina Gentile is an award-winning automotive journalist — one of the few women who cover cars in Canada. Petrina has been writing for The Globe and Mail’s Drive section since 2004. Besides auto reviews, she also interviews celebrities such as Theo Fleury, Mario Andretti, Patrick Dempsey, Clara Hughes and Ron MacLean about their cars. Petrina also covers the automotive beat for CTV NewsChannel on her bi-weekly segment called “Up to Speed” and reports regularly on CP24 and BNN TV. She produced 18 seasons of the national TV show Car/Business with Jeremy Cato and Michael Vaughan, which was broadcast weekly on CTV and BNN. Before focusing on cars, Petrina was a news writer at CTV and a producer at BNN. She has also written several non-fiction books for kids, including Big Trucks, Big Wheels, Dirt Movers and The Ballet School. She has a Master of Journalism (MJ) from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours English: Rhetoric and Professional Writing and Applied Studies) from the University of Waterloo.

Jennifer Okoeguale

Jennifer is currently a Regional Marketing Manager with Toyota Canada, supporting retail marketing efforts in the Ontario region. She began her journey at Toyota working in Internal Communications, before joining Corporate Communications where she supported media relations, executive communications, brand and crisis communications along with the Toyota Canada Foundation and Toyota’s corporate community investment portfolio. Her most recent role was on the PR team supporting major events including auto shows and the National Dealer Meeting. She has a passion for diversity, equity and inclusion and sits as a founding board member on Toyota’s Women Influencing & Impacting Toyota employee resource group, focused on advocating for the empowerment of women within the organization, and is a founding member of Accelerate Auto, a not-for-profit focused on increasing Black representation in Canada’s automotive industry.

Francine Floreani

Since the beginning of her auto career in a small outdated dealership to the new, large and modern present location, Francine has brought on a new spin to the car buying experience for her customers. Being the only local female car dealer in a normally male-dominated business, she knows exactly what it’s like to overcome challenges. Francine started her business career in her husband’s orthodontic practice as the office manager/partner and acquired over 20 years of management and customer service. In 2012, when the opportunity presented itself for her to run the local Honda dealership, Great Lakes Honda, she jumped in with enthusiasm. Whether buying braces for your kids or buying a new car, she saw this opportunity as a way of making people smile! Great Lakes Honda sells new and pre-owned vehicles as well as motorcycles, ATV’s, Side by Sides and power equipment such as lawn movers, snow blowers, marine motors and generators. In 2018, she acquired another business, Our Driving School. In 2019, she built a brand new, state-of-the art classroom and office facility for teaching Beginner Driver Education and other services. With having only 3 vehicles in the fleet, she has expanded it to 8 Honda’s all being driven by young drivers and new comers to Canada. She brings her excellent skills of customer service along with her values on transparency and community involvement. She is a strong supporter of many local causes and often refers herself as an “active” supporter rather than a “cheque” writer. She serves on 4 different local non-profit organizations and is a member of HDAT, Honda’s Dealer Advisory Team.

Stay Inspired

“I started to wonder if being a project manager was for me; I looked around at all the corner offices to figure out what it takes to be in those offices, and it was all middle-aged white men in navy suits and I thought, I am never going to be a middle-aged man in a navy suit, so I basically did what I always did, I worked harder than anyone else.”
