Today, the Ontario Government announced certain areas of the province will move out of lockdown and back into colour-coded zones on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at 12:01 a.m.
Click here to read the announcement and to see which colour coded level your Public Health Unit will operate in.
What does returning to a colour-coded Framework mean for auto dealers?
Unless your Public Health Unit is placed in Grey-Lockdown, your dealership does not have to follow the current Lockdown business restrictions which include:
1.        Operating sales and service by appointment only.
2.        Operating only between the hours of 7 am and 8 pm.
3.        The conditions related to test drives.
4.        Not allowing members of the public where products are neither sold nor displayed for sale.
If you wish to continue implementing the above measures, you are free to do so.
Although moving to colour-coded zones removes business operation restrictions, Public Health guidelines and requirements will remain in effect. Please continue following all Public Health guidelines like screening employees, operating with capacity limits, ensuring everyone in the dealerships wears a mask, having a safety plan, etc.
The Ministry of Labour, local by-law officers and others will ramp up inspections across all sectors in the coming weeks. We are aware of some dealerships already being inspected.
If you have questions, I encourage you to contact your local Public Health Unit given they are the primary enforcement agency of the rules.
